Ariasa bilaqueata ( Uhler, 1903) View in CoL , comb. nov.

I have compared available specimens to the type specimen and found it them to represent Cicada bilaqueata described by Uhler. Distant (1906) then assigned the species to the genus Rihana with a question mark. Metcalf (1963a) finally reassigned the species to Diceroprocta without comment. However, the timbal covers are incomplete so the species cannot be within Diceroprocta . Following Distant’s (1906) key, the species is determined to be in the genus Ariasa . Further comparison to other Ariasa species and the generic description ( Distant 1905) confirm the reassignment to Ariasa .

Specimens in the UMSP are from Guarico, Hato Masaquaral , 45 km S Calabozo, 8.57N 67.58W, Galry-For#4, 75 m, 12–13–IV–1988. GoogleMaps

Specimens have been reported previously from Brazil ( Metcalf 1963a).
