26. Encyclia oliveirana Campacci (2007: 60) View in CoL . Type:— BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Carbonita , 600 m, September 2005, Oliveira & Leitão 1849 (holotype: SP 399308 !) ( Figs. 17 View FIGURE 17 , 25L View FIGURE 25 ) .

Epiphytic herbs, 14.0 cm tall. Pseudobulbs conical, 3.5 × 1.1 cm. Leaves 2, oblong, 18.0 × 1.3 cm, apex acute. Inflorescence a densely 12-flowered, compound raceme; peduncle c. 8.4 cm long; rachis c. 11.2 cm long. Floral pedicel 1.0 × 0.1 cm, warty; sepals brownish green, dorsal cymbiform, 1.0 × 0.3 cm, laterals falcate, 1.0 × 0.4 cm, pendent, margin entire, apex acute; petals brownish green, cymbiform, c. 1.4 × 0.3 cm, pendent, margin entire, apex acute; lip without claw, lateral lobes free relative to midlobe, 0.4 × 0.2 cm, greenish, at a ˂45° angle to midlobe (in the flattened lip), overlapping it, margin entire, apex obtuse, midlobe triangular, c. 0.5 × 0.3 cm, white with few pink traces, campanulate, margin entire, apex acute, callus cymbiform, truncate; column falcate, c. 0.4 × 0.1 cm, clinandrium apex tridentate, lateral teeth triangular, apex acute, arms of the column triangular, inconspicuous, apex acute; stigma elliptic, with basal hooks; anther one, black.

Distribution and habitat:— Endemic to cerrado in Minas Gerais ( Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 ).

Phenology:— Flowering July.

Etymology:— In honour of the collector of the type material, Wellington Martins de Oliveira.

Taxonomic notes:— Encyclia oliveirana resembles E. viridiflora in which the lateral lobes wrap around the column in a similar and peculiar manner. However, E. viridiflora is larger relative to E. oliveirana , and examination of the flattened lip reveals that the lateral lobes in E. oliveirana overlap the midlobe up to the middle, but are completely free in the latter, which in turn is triangular. In E. viridiflora the lateral lobes of the lip extend along the midlobe and are fused to it. This species is known only from the type specimen.
