Type material: Holotype: ♀, between Tepic and Pochotitlán [21°28’N, 104°54’W], Nayarit, Mexico, 22 August 1905, P. Goldsmith leg. ( MCZ 99595).
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition and refers to the type locality.
Diagnosis. Females of C. tepic sp. nov. are distinguished from those of the other species of the genus by the epigyne with median septum with wide posterior border, reaching more than half the septum length, forming a roughly oval atrium, less than two times wider than long ( Fig. 91 View FIGURES 91 − 94. 91 − 92 ). Males are unknown.
Description. Female: Badly preserved specimen. Prosoma brown, darker at cephalic region and along thoracic striae. Fovea dark brown. Eye borders black. Chelicerae dark brown. Legs and pedipalps brown. Sternum orange with brown margins. Endites orange, distally pale orange. Labium brown, distally pale orange. Opisthosoma yellowish cream colored, ventrally with thick, brown, longitudinal stripe. Total length 16.0. Prosoma: 5.2 long, 6.0 wide. Opisthosoma: 10.7 long, 8.0 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.41, 0.39, 0.29, 0.38; interdistances: 0.37, 0.26, 0.70, 0.68, 0.42, 0.33. Legs (probably 2143): I: 23.6 (6.3, 3.2, 6.0, 6.0, 2.1); II: (7.2, 3.1, 6.6, 6.4, tarsus absent); III: 17.9 (5.6, 2.2, 4.4, 4.2, 1.5); IV: 20.7 (6.4, 2.4, 5.0, 5.2, 1.7). Epigyne: epigynal field rounded, slightly longer than wide. Posterior margin of median septum not surpassing epigastric furrow ( Fig. 91 View FIGURES 91 − 94. 91 − 92 ). Vulva: copulatory ducts short, slightly longer than half spermathecae length. Spermathecae, large, rounded. Basal part of fertilization ducts narrow, less than one-fourth copulatory duct width, distal part antero-laterad ( Fig. 92 View FIGURES 91 − 94. 91 − 92 ).
Male: Unknown.
Distribution. Only known from the type locality in the state of Nayarit, Mexico (Map 5).
