Note.

See Smetana (1982) for identification. This Oriental species is adventive in Europe, North America, Africa and the Australian region, and was initially identified in North America in 1904 along the western coast. Since then, it has been observed in various locations across the continent. The first detection in the eastern part of North America was in New York in 1931 ( Smetana 1982). The records given below represent its first detection in Canada and are the northernmost known. It is generally a species that is more commonly found in warmer and southern regions of North America ( Smetana 1982). It was previously reported as Phacophallus tricolor in most recent works (including Smetana 1982), but was synonymized with Phacophallus pallidipennis by Bordoni (2002).
