TYPE:— BOLIVIA. Cochabamba: Chapre, epiphytic in cloud forest along the road to Tablas , alt. 2300 m, 9 Feb. 1980, Luer, Luer & Vásquez 5200 (holotype, SEL!).
Distribution: — Bolivia.
Notes:— This Bolivian endemic may produce up to 2 m proliferous plants,. It is similar to M. frutex , which is also found in Bolivia. However, it is distinguished from the latter by its whitish flowers and acute lateral lip lobes vs. yellowish to brownish flowers and lip margins obscurely angled.
