TYPE:— COLOMBIA. Risaralda: Mistrató , between Mistrató and San Antonio de Chamí, Mampay, 1700 m, collected by M. De Robledo , J. Posada & L. De Posada , flowered in cultivation by M. & O. Robledo at La Ceja, 25 Jan 1978, Luer 2321 (holotype: JAUM; isotype: SEL!) .
Distribution: — Colombia.
Notes:— Myoxanthus cimex is similar to M. reymondii but has an acute dorsal sepal generally fully opened backwards, covering the ovary and pedicel vs. dorsal sepal generally obtuse, not completely opened, an ovate acute, apical petal callus vs. rounded callus and unlobed lip vs. small acute lateral lobes.
