Basionym: Pleurothallis sarcodactylae Luer (1976a: 422) View in CoL .
TYPE:— ECUADOR. Napo: epiphytic in forest 15 Km west of Tena , 600 m, 26 Jul 1975, Luer, Luer & Wilhelm 621 (holotype: SEL!; isotype: K!).
Distribution: — Ecuador.
Notes:— According to Luer (1992), this uncommon species endemic to central Ecuador is closely related to M. octomerioides . However, its yellowish flowers are morphologically similar to those of M. congestus and M. pulvinatus . This species is recognized by its abaxially slightly pubescent yellowish flowers and petals with the margins above the middle thicker, forming a sulcus at the abaxial surface, a feature shown in the illustration of the type and the photo here (Fig. 18B).
