Type material. Adult male holotype from Lakhish , Israel, leg. Yoni Gavish on cereal ( Hyparrhenia hirta ), August 23, 2007 ( HUJ 15571). Female unknown.
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition referring to the type locality.
Description. Colouration as of genus. Chelicerae with 3 small denticles.
Male. Measurements (holotype + 1ɗ; holotype listed first): total length 1.8, 2.0; carapace length 0.9, 1.0, width 0.75, 0.65, index 1.38, 1.33; labial index 0.57, 0.53; clypeal index 1.0, 0.9; MOQ index 4.5–5.0; legs of holotype missing and of paratype damaged; legs length: I –, II 2.9, III 2.1, IV 3.3.
Palpus. Small with tegular, pointed, blackish lamina projecting apically much above other sclerites ( Figs 27, 28 View FIGURES 27, 28 ); dark tibial apophysis with dent at middle ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27, 28 ).
Diagnosis. Based on male. Leptopilos lakhish can be easily separated from all other Leptopilos and former Leptodrassus species by the configuration of the palpal sclerites with the prominent lamina and the dented tibial apophysis.
Distribution. Israel: Nehusha, Lakhish .
