Madenemura pauliani View in CoL , n. sp.
( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 18 – 24 )
Holotype: Madagascar, Ranomafana National Pk., 2115.629'S, 4725.149'E, J. Benstead: 29.10.1998, 1♀ [ USNM]. Paratype: Madagascar, Prov. Fianarantsoa, 7km W Ranomafana, 900m, 17.– 22.02.1990, W.E.Steiner \ Malaise trap in small clearing, montane rain forest, 1♀ [ USNM].
Habitus. As for the genus; WL 7.1mm in the paratype, 7.6mm in the holotype.
Male. Unknown.
Female. Ovipositor of the same structure as in the congeners but extremely long and thin, almost half as long as the abdomen ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 18 – 24 ).
Notes. Named after Renaud Paulian, in recognition of his pioneer work on the Plecoptera of Madagascar. Male and larva are presently unknown. The species is very different from all the ones described by R. Paulian. Indeed, the overlong ovipositor is unique among Plecoptera . The geographic coordinates on the holotype label suggest it was collected at the Mariavaratra stream.
