Dactylochelifer degeerii (C.L. Koch, 1835)
Chelifer degeerii C. L. koch, 1835: n/a, fasc. 132.3.
Dactylochelifer latreillii : Just et al. 2023: supplementary material, Table S1.
Dactylochelifer degeeri : Muster et al. 2024: 14–16.
not Chelifer de Geerii View in CoL [sic] C. L. Koch: Tömösváry 1882a: 204–205; Daday 1918: 2.
Occurrence: Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Switzerland ( Muster et al. 2024).
Known localities in Hungary: Naszály; Vác ( Just et al. 2023; Muster et al. 2024).
New data: nil.
Habitat preference: Dactylochelifer degeerii is an inland species, most often associated with floodplains ( Muster et al. 2024). Though its preferred microhabitat might be probably bushes (C.L. koch 1843; Muster et al. 2024), it aslo has been reported from birds nest ( Christophoryová et al. 2011d), from compost heaps ( Christophoryová et al. 2017a), and under tree bark and from dead wood ( Christophoryová et al. 2017c).
Remarks: Dactylochelifer degeerii was originally described by C.L. Koch, (1835) from Germany, and it was later regarded as a junior synonymy of D. latreillii by Pavesi (1884). As a result of integrative taxonomical investigations, D. degeerii was recently reinstated to species status from synonymy and also newly recorded for Hungary by Muster et al. 2024. Though Tömösváry (1882a) reported some specimens from Hungary as Chelifer de Geerii [sic], these were treated subsequently as D. latreillii due to the synonymysation carried out by Pavesi (1884). Consequently, until the morphological and morphometric characters of specimens will be thoroughy investigated, they are treated hereby as D. latreillii .
