Brachybarcinus secundus n. sp.
( Figs. 49, 50; photo 17)
Material examined: Holotype ♂ card mounted:” China, Fujian C., 13–14 VII/ Ziyungdongshan, NW slope/ 25°46N, 117°20E, 900–1100m / Jaroslav Turna leg. 2007”//” Holotype ♂ / Brachybarcinus / secundus n. sp. / des. E.Heiss 2009” ( CEHI); paratypes 2♂ collected with holotype ( CEHI); 1♂ 1♀ pinned:” China, Guangxi / Longshenghuaping/ 2008 V 2 Bai, XS/ Ent.Mus.Imnu Huhhot” ( CIMU). GoogleMaps
Diagnosis: This species is similar and closely related to B. vietnamensis n. sp. sharing essential characters but can be distinguished from the latter by its generally smaller size and the much shorter lobate expansions of deltg VII which are only as long as the paratergites VIII in both sexes.
Description: Male, micropterous.
Head: Longer than wide across eyes (25/22); genae short and produced over clypeus, apices acute and cleft at middle; antennae 3.20x as long as width of head (70.5/22); length of antennal segments I/II/IIII/IV = 25/10.5/27/8, segment II being the longest; structure of vertex and postocular tubercles as in vietnamensis .
Thorax: Pronotum: about 2.40x as wide as long at middle, anterior lateral lobes less developed and posterior ones smaller; surface of disk, anterior and posterior margins as well as structure and shape of scutellum, wing pads and metanotum as in vietnamensis .
Abdomen: Structures basically as vietnamensis however the posteriorly expanded and rounded lobes of deltg VII are much shorter, their apex not exceeding that of clavate paratergites VIII.
Genitalic structures: Pygophore globular, an ovate dorsal sclerite slightly produced posteriorly, paratergites VIII longer than pygophore.
Female: Of larger size and wider abdomen but sharing all essential characters of the male; the clavate lateral lobes of tergite VIII reach the level of apex of deltg VII lobes.
Measurements: Holotype ♂: Length 12.0 mm; width of abdomen across tergites III 56, VI 45, VII 36.5; variation of size 10.3, 12.3 mm. Female: Length 14.4 mm; head length/width 27/24; pronotum w/l 42/17; scutellum w/l 49/14; length of antennal segments I/II/III/IV = 24/11/28/8; ratio length of antennae/width of head 2.96; width of abdomen across tergite III 74, VI 59, VII 43.
Etymology:> Secundus <(Latin) second, refers to the second discovered species belonging to the genus Brachybarcinus n.gen.
