TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Tamaulipas, Sierra de Tamaulipas, 10 mi. (16 km) W., 2 mi. (3 km) S. Piedra, 1200 ft. (366 m) .

DISTRIBUTION: S.W. Arizona and S.E. and C. New Mexico ( U.S.A.) to S. Jalisco; S.C. Nuevo Leon to C. Veracruz ( Mexico).

COMMENT: Listed as a subspecies of evotis by Hall and Kelson, 1959:169; but also see Genoways and Jones, 1969, Southwest. Nat., 14:1 -12; Hall, 1981:205.
