III–IV, lateral and posterior head, lateral Th.II–Abd.II, central lateral and posterior Abd.III, four central lateral spots and lateral posterior margins of Abd.IV, distal tibiotarsi and distal femora. Eyepatches dark ( Fig.3D View FIGURE 3 ). Apically pointed strongly ciliate elongate scales covering Ant.I–II, dorsal and lateral head, dorsal trunk, legs, ventral manubrium and dentes; ventral tube devoid of scales. Body (head+ trunk) length of holotype 1922 μm (trunk: 1492μm; head: 430μm).
Head. Antennae longer than body length ( Fig.3D View FIGURE 3 ). Holotype antennae lengths: 2440μm (Ant.I= 402 μm; Ant.II= 596 μm, Ant.III= 534μm, IV= 908μm). Ant.IV not annulated with at least three types of chaetae: blunt sensilla and normal ciliate chaetae of different sizes and one thick apical chaeta ( Fig.5D View FIGURE 5 ). Ant.III apical sense organ with 2 small sensory rods in cavity plus 3 surrounding guard sensilla ( Fig. 5C View FIGURE 5 ). Ant.I with 8 dorsal mac ( Fig. 5G View FIGURE 5 ). Prelabral chaetae (4) ciliate, labral chaetotaxy formula with 5 (p0–2), 5 (m0–2), 4 (a1–2) smooth chaetae, p1 longer than others, p0 normal ( Fig. 5I View FIGURE 5 ). Dorsal head chaetotaxy as in Fig.8D View FIGURE 8 with 10 An, 2–3 A, 2 M, 7 –8 S, 1 Pi, 4 Pa, 3 Pm and 4 Pp mac, Ps2 as mic, Ps5 as mes. Labial basolateral and basomedial fields with L2 ciliated chaeta; m2, r, e, l1, a1–5 as smooth chaetae; r chaeta not reduced ( Fig.6E View FIGURE 6 ). Labial palp with 5 main papillae (A–E) with 0, 5, 0, 4, 4 guard chaetae, respectively; papilla E with lateral process (l.p.) finger-shaped, not reaching the papilla base; papilla H with 2 accessorial chaetae (as in Fig.6A View FIGURE 6 ); labial papillae with 5 smooth proximal chaetae. Maxillary outer lobe with 1 apical smooth appendage (a.a.) and 1 subapical blunt discretely ciliate chaeta (b.c.); sublobal plate with 3 chaeta-like appendages ( Fig. 6I View FIGURE 6 ). Cephalic groove with several microchaetae and 3 +3 surrounding anterior mac ( Fig.7D View FIGURE 7 ).
Trunk dorsal chaetotaxy. Th.II with 1 a (a5, excluding anterior collar), 5 central m and 9 central p main mac ( Fig.9G View FIGURE 9 ). Th.III with 13 central mac (with unclear homologies) plus a6 lateral mac ( Fig.9H View FIGURE 9 ). Abd.I with 6–7 mac, acc.p6 sensillum not seen, possibly absent ( Fig.10G View FIGURE 10 ). Etymology. The new species name honours the community living and caring for the Wanang Conservation Area, the type locality.
Distribution and habitat. An arboreal species found on one site in lowland tropical rainforest in Wanang Conservation Area near the north coast of Papua New Guinea ( Fig.15 View FIGURE 15 ).
Remarks. The new species most resembles P.dahlii ( Schäffer, 1898) sensu Yoshii & Suhardjono (1992) , P.halmaherae ( Yoshii & Suhardjono, 1992) and P.seramica ( Yoshii & Suhardjono, 1992) in labral p row with only p1 enlarged, a reduced number of Th.II central p chaetae, dens lacking enlarged distal chaetae and four mucronal teeth. Plumachaetas wanangensis sp.nov. differs from other congeners in the combination of: dorsal head with 2 M chaetae (M2, 4); Th. II with 9 p mac; Th.III with 13 central mac; Abd.I with 6–7 mac; Abd.II with 6 central mac; Abd.III with a1 chaeta; only L2 labial chaeta ciliate (R and L 2 in P.dahlii , all smooth in P.halmaherae and P.seramica ); unguiculus lanceolate (weakly truncate in P.seramica , truncate in P.halmaherae ); trochanteral organ with about 40 spine-like chaetae and ventral tube anterior distal mac 5 +5 (see also Table1 View TABLE 1 ).
