Prodorsal shield 45 (43–46), 45 (43–46) wide; subtriangular; smooth. Scapular tubercles ahead of rear margin, 15 (14–15) apart, scapular setae (sc) 4 (4–5), projecting mediad. Coxal area smooth; anterolateral setae on coxisternum (1b) 5 (5–6), proximal setae on coxisternum (1a) 15 (14–17), proximal setae on coxisternum (2a) 30 (28–32). Prosternal apodeme present. Legs with usual setae. Legs 23 (22–25), femur 6 (6–7), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 5 (5–6); genu 4 (4–5), antaxial genual setae (l'') 15 (13–16); tibia 5 (5–6), paraxial tibial setae (l') 4 (4–5), setae located at center; tarsus 4 (4–5); tarsal empodium simple, 4 rayed, tarsal solenidion slightly knobbed. Legs 19 (18–21), femur 6 (5–6), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 4 (4–5); genu 3 (3–4), antaxial genual setae (l'') 4 (4–5); tibia 3 (3–4); tarsus 3 (3–4); tarsal empodium simple, 4rayed, tarsal solenidion slightly knobbed. Opisthosoma: middorsal ridge short, ending in a broad furrow before the termination of subdorsal ridges. Dorsal opisthosoma with 26 (25–28) annuli, smooth, ventrally with 57 (55–60) microtuberculate annuli. Setae c2 20 (18–23) on ventral annulus 11 (10–11); setae d 30 (27–33) on ventral annulus 21 (20–22); setae e 12 (11–15) on ventral annulus 37 (35–38), setae f 19 (17–21) on 5th ventral annulus from rear. Setae h1 absent. Female genitalia 8 (7–9) long, 17 (16–18) wide, coverflap with 12 longitudinal ridges, proximal setae on coxisternum (3a) 18 (17–20).
MALE: (n = 1)140, 40 wide; male genitalia 4, 15 wide, proximal setae on coxisternum
(3a) 10.
Types
Holotype, female, China: Shaanxi Province, Foping County, 33°30.48’N, 107°58.52’E. September 5, 2004, from Dendrobenthamia japonica var. chinensis (Osborn) Fang (Cornaceae) , coll. Xue, XiaoFeng & Song, ZiWei. Paratypes, 4 females and 1 male, with the same data as holotype.
Relation to host
Mites are vagrant on the undersurface of leaves, causing no apparent damage.
Note
This species is similar to Calepitrimerus similisvas Huang, 2001 , but can be differentiated by prodorsal shield smooth (with admedian lines in C. similisvas ), tarsal empodium 4rayed (tarsal empodium 5rayed in C. similisvas ) and female coverflap with 12 longitudinal ridges (with 10 longitudinal ridges in C. similisvas ).
