Lectotype (designated here):— MALAYSIA, Peninsular Malaysia, Larut, Maxwell’s Hill, King’s Collector 5375 (K!; isotypes: KEP!, L!).
Distribution and Habitat:—Hill forest to 700 m in Peninsular Malaysia.
Taxonomic Notes:—Vegetatively, the large, cabbage-like, ribbed leaves are distinctly different from those in Garcinia sect. Garcinia . The inflorescences are thyrses rather than in clusters as in Garcinia sect. Garcinia , the male flower is similar to G. anomala in the mass of stamens surrounding the pistillode and the fruit has a lobed or segmented wall.
