Type material. Goerius carinatus Sharp, 1874
Type locality. Japan: Maiyasama.
Type specimen studied. Sharp (l.c.) described the species frοm a single specimen: “The οnly specimen I have
seen” (hοlοtype by mοnοtypy). The hοlοtype, female, in BMNH: “ Type (rοund red margined label) / Japan G. Lewis. 1901-320. / Gοerius carinatus . type DS.”. The genital segment is οn transparent plate attached tο the specimen. The specimen is in gοοd shape, but right antenna, except fοr the first segment, is missing.
FIGURES 1–13. 1–13. Agelosus carinatus: 1,3,4, aedoeagus, ventral view; 2,6,8,10–13, apical portions of underside of paramere with sensory peg setae; 5,7,9,11, apical portions of paramere, ventral view.
FIGURES 14–21. 14–15. Agelosus carinatus: 14, tergite 10 of male genital segment; 15, sternite 9 of male genital segment. 16–19. Agelosus longicornis: 16, aedoeagus, ventral view; 17, apical portion of underside of paramere with sensory peg setae; 18, tergite 10 of male genital segment; 19, sternite 9 of male genital segment. 20–21. Agelosus unicolor: 20, aedoeagus, ventral view; 21, underside of apical portion of paramere with sensory peg setae.
FIGURES 70–75. 70: Agelosus carinatus: holotype (length 21.0 mm) with attached labels. 71: Agelosus carinatus: smallest and largest specimen (length 14.0 mm and 23.0 mm). 72: Agelosus carinatus brevipennis: holotype (length 18.0 mm) with attached labels. 73: Agelosus longicornis: paratype (length 22.0 mm). 74: Agelosus unicolor: holotype (length 20.0 mm) with attached labels. 75: Agelosus masaoi: holotype (length 19 mm) with attached labels.
