Remarks. This genus can be identified by the narrow lanceolate wings, and the larvae having ventral suckers.
Immature stages are associated with fast streams and waterfalls where they live on rocks near the surface or in the splash zone ( Quate & Vockeroth 1981). Maruina is a new world genus, also distributed in Canada, USA, Mexico, Central America, the Greater and Lesser Antilles, Chile, Brazil and Argentina ( Hogue 1990).
