Types. Holotype male from Plot PPBio, Igarapé Caquajó, Floresta Nacional de Caxiuanã (01°57’38.9”S 51°36’45.3”W), Portel, Pará, Brazil, M.A. Ribeiro-Junior, N.F. Lo Man Hung leg., 19–28.VII.2007 (MPEG 17184; PBI_OON 40532). Paratype female, same data as holotype ( MPEG 30547 View Materials ; PBI_OON 40531) .
Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the type locality.
Diagnosis. Males resemble those of A. ducke sp. nov. by the endites with prolateral process without protrusions ( Figs 45 View FIGURES 44 – 49 , 102 View FIGURES 101 – 106 ) and by the lamellar, distally twisted embolus ( Figs 47 View FIGURES 44 – 49 , 104 View FIGURES 101 – 106 ), but can be recognized by the endites with wide prolateral process and devoid of retrolateral process ( Figs 44–45 View FIGURES 44 – 49 ). Females are recognized by the genital atrium with sclerotized borders ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 50 – 56 ) and by the narrow mesial portion of genital sclerite ( Fig. 130 View FIGURES 130 – 132 ).
Description. Male (PBI_OON 40532, Figs 32–49 View FIGURES 32 – 37 View FIGURES 38 – 43 View FIGURES 44 – 49 ): Total length 1.30. CEPHALOTHORAX: Carapace orange-brown, ovoid in dorsal view, anteriorly narrowed to 0.49 times its maximum width or less, with rounded posterolateral corners, surface of elevated portion of pars cephalica granulate; non-marginal pars cephalica setae present, scattered. Clypeus high, Eyes: ALE separated from edge of carapace by their radius or more. ALE–PLE touching, PME touching throughout most of their length, PLE–PME touching. Sternum orange-brown, furrow wrinkled, surface rugose, without pits, anterior margin with a row of small depressions, lateral margin with infracoxal grooves and anterior and posterior openings; setae evenly scattered. Mouthparts: paturon distal region unmodified. Labium rectangular, with 6 or more setae on anterior margin. Endites anteromedian tip with one strong, tooth-like projection. ABDOMEN: dorsum soft portions white. Posterior spiracles not connected by groove. Pedicel tube medium. Dorsal scutum pale orange, covering more than 3/4 of abdomen, no soft tissue visible from above, middle surface finely reticulate, sides finely reticulate. Postepigastric scutum pale orange, long, semicircular, covering nearly full length of abdominal length, without posteriorly directed lateral apodemes. LEGS: pale orange; patella plus tibia I shorter than carapace, metatarsi I and II meso-apical comb absent. Leg spines. Tarsi I to IV superior claws tooth examined in detail; tarsus IV superior claws with one tooth on median surface of retroclaw. GENITALIA: Epigastric region with sperm pore situated between anterior and posterior spiracles. Palp: bulb yellow, 1 to 1.5 times as long as cymbium, embolus light, prolateral excavation present, small, lamellar, twisted, with a large rounded prolateral aperture.
Female (PBI_OON 40531, Figs 50–56 View FIGURES 50 – 56 ): Total length 1.37. As in male, except as noted. CEPHALOTHORAX: Labium with 3–5 setae on anterior margin. ABDOMEN: Pedicel unmodified, scutum not extending far dorsal of pedicel. Epigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, epigastric scutum not surrounding pedicel dorsally. Postepigastric scutum weakly sclerotized, not fused to epigastric scutum. GENITALIA: anterior receptaculum transversal sclerite gull-winged; lateral apodemas around epigastric furrow ( Fig. 130 View FIGURES 130 – 132 ).
Variation. The retrolateral projection near base of embolus may be inconspicuous ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 38 – 43 , male from Utinga, Belém, PBI 44435) or absent ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 38 – 43 , male from Juruti , PBI 44496).
