Material examined. INFUECO stations: BC10 0611, 1 specimen, 1155 m depth; BC18 0611, 3 specimens, 967 m depth. INCOECO stations: BC6 0611, 1 specimen, 747 m depth.

Habitat. The species inhabits deep sandy and muddy sediments, between 106 and 1000 m ( San Martín 2003) , and shallow waters, inside dead corals ( San Martín 2005). In the Canary Islands the greatest collection depth was 1150 m .

Distribution. West Atlantic Ocean (Florida and Gulf of Mexico), Cantabrian Sea in the Bay of Biscay (Capbreton Canyon), Eastern Mediterranean Sea and Western Australia ( San Martín 2005). Its distribution is extended in the Eastern Atlantic Ocean, in the Banks of Amanay, Banquete and Conception (Canary Islands). The species is recorded for the first time in the Canary Islands.
