Type Locality: "Gilgit [Valley],...about 6000 feet " [ Pakistan, 1829 m].
Vernacular Names: Woolly Flying Squirrel.
Distribution: High elevations from N Pakistan and Kashmir to Sikkim ( India) to Tibet and possibly Yunnan ( China; Agrawal and Chakraborty, 1970).
Conservation: IUCN – Endangered.
Discussion: Reviewed by McKenna (1962). In 1994, the first specimen to be found in "...over a century..." was obtained in the Gilgit district ( Zahler, 1996).
