Diagnosis (male). Foremetatarsus expanded anteriorly, without long seta on excavation base; foretibia with two dorsal setae at proximal half. Male terminalia with left epandrial process without conspicuous external projections except a subepandrial elevation bearing about six pointed teeth.

Redescription. Male. Body length, 1.8–2.0 mm. Head. Frons dark brown, sparsely setulose, with welldefined median furrow. Flagellomere 1 brown, pubescent, conical-elongated. Arista apical, pubescent, slightly shorter than flagellomere 1. Palpus yellowish-brown; two genal setae. Thorax. Scutum, scutellum and pleural regions brown; anepisternum bare. Legs yellowish-brown, except hind femur apex, brown. Forethrocanther apex with three slightly strong setae. Forefemur with anteroventral row of strong setae at basal third. Foretibia with two dorsal setae (one at basal quarter and other at basal half) or three, and anterodorsal row of strong setulae ( Fig. 158 View FIGURES 158 – 173 ). Foremetatarsus expanded anteriorly, with anteroapical setulose process, anterior excavation and seta on the base of the anteroapical process. Hind femur not swollen (height/length ratio, 0.35), with narrow posteroventral group of tiny blunt setulae adjacent to ventral margin—dorsal setulae thicker ( Figs. 272 View FIGURES 269 – 272 ). Hind tibia with one dorsal seta. Wing ( Fig. 210 View FIGURES 203 – 214 ). Costa not swollen, 0.37 of the wing length; M1 concave, curved posteriorly at apex; M2 concave; antero-posterior distance between M2 and CuA1 at CuA1 apex about 1.7 distance between M1 and M2 at the same level; CuA1 sinuous. Halter white. Abdomen. Tergites brown, with lighter posterior band. Hypopygium light brown ( Figs. 63–66 View FIGURES 63 – 66 ). Epandrium covered with microtrichia mostly dorsally, proximal lateral areas bare; epandrium left suture present. Left epandrial process with subepandrial elevation bearing six pointed projections. Right epandrial projection with subepandrial group of setulae. Hypoproct with two to three setae. Hypandrium without lateral projections.
Geographical distribution. Costa Rica, Trinidad, Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana and Panama.
