Coniceromyia grenadensis (Brues, 1904)
status

Coniceromyia grenadensis (Brues, 1904)

Hypocera grenadensis Brues, 1904: 356 , plate vi, fig. 24. Refs.: Malloch 1912: 434. Chaetopleurophora grenadensis ; Borgmeier, 1961: 3; 1962: 452. Coniceromyia grenadensis ; Brown, 1992: 49.

Material examined. Holotype ♀, West Indies, Grenada, H. Smith col. (USNM).

Comments. No reliable association can be made at this stage of the female holotype of Coniceromyia grenadensis with any males —as also happens with other Coniceromyia species with female holotypes. Hence, this species remains without diagnostic features. This is the oldest Coniceromyia species described and is potentially the senior synonym of one of many of the species described more recently.
