Coniceromyia stephensoni Peterson, 1982: 136 View in CoL , figs. 1–2. Refs.: Kung & Brown 2000a: 6. Holotype ♂, Panama: Chiriqui: 4km N Hartmann's Finca, B.Gill (CNC; not examined).
Diagnosis (male). Forefemur anterior face with large white oval macula, which is mesally brown ( Fig. 321 View FIGURES 318 – 324 ); circular macula at wing apical third, strong ventral setae on foretibia.
Material examined. 1♂, COSTA RICA: Puntarenas: Las Alturas , 8.95ºN, 82.83ºW, 10–13.vi.1998, Malaise trap, 1600 m, B. Brown & V. Berezovskiy col. ( LACM) GoogleMaps .
Hypopygium description ( Figs. 122–125 View FIGURES 122 – 125 ). Hypopygium nearly identical to that of C. leucomacula , but with four setae on the hypoproct.
Geographical distribution. So far, known only from Costa Rica and Panama.
