Comments. The female of this species was only very recently described ( Bosselaers & Van Keer 2016). Drawings of both vulva and the male bulb are presented here (figs 15–16). The lateral oblique protrusions seen on the vulva are not present in all the females inspected.
Distribution and habitat. This is the only Harpactea species present in the Balearic islands. It is found in deciduous and pine forests and other shaded or semi-shaded habitats with presence of leaf litter. Citations from Majorca of Harpactea corticalis (Simon, 1882) by Orghidan et al. (1975) and ( Gines 1982) are considered misidentifications (see below). Recently, the species has also been cited in Catalonia (Bosselaers & Van Keer 2016).
