Debilos indistinctum Scherrer , sp. nov.

( Figs 13, 23, 31, 57, 84, 101, 132)

Description. Female. Fore wing 5 mm. Head ( Fig. 84): Antenna with 21–22 flagellomeres. Clypeus smooth, sparsely punctate towards apex, moderately convex, most prominent ventrally, CWH 1.84; MWC 0.58, MLW 1.91, MWW 0.45; malar space long, MSM 1.45; supra-antennal area with faint, median, longitudinal carina; minimum distance from eye margin to occipital carina laterally approximately same width of mandible base.

Mesosoma ( Fig. 101). Pronotum lateral portion next to mesopleuron inconspicuously corrugated, epomia indistinct; notaulus faintly impressed, uniformly sculptured with mesoscutum, not reaching middle of mesoscutum; mesopleuron without distinct ridges or rugae, epicnemial carina restricted to ventral 0.8 of mesopleuron, posteriorly inconspicuously, sparsely corrugated; mesopleural groove moderately corrugated; sternaulus faintly impressed, contiguously sculptured with mesopleuron; postpectal carina medially distinctly bent; metapleuron, subapical fovea shallow, subcircular; pleural carina inconspicuous; propodeum anterior area moderately long, PLL 0.97, anterior transverse carina faint, sometimes inconspicuous, slightly, uniformly curved, posterior area without distinct ridges or rugae, uniformly colliculate with anterior area ( Fig. 13), spiracle subrounded, SWL 1.20 ( Fig. 57), propodeal apophyses of regular height, thorn-shaped, AHD 1.91. Legs: Hind t4 posterior lobe about 0.33 × as long as anterior lobe. Wings ( Fig. 31): Fore wing vein (Rs+M)b perfectly straight, limit with crossvein 1m-cu distinct, ramellus absent; vein Rs&1M uniformly slightly curved; crossvein 1cu-a posteriorly slightly convex, arising opposite vein Rs&1M, angle with vein M+Cu about 90 degrees; vein 2Cua moderately shorter than crossvein 2cu- a, FWC 0.56; areolet small, APH 0.72; vein 2Ma distinctly shorter than vein 2Mb; vein 2Mb tubular; crossvein 2mcu with bulla short, about 0.2 × as long as vein length or shorter; vein 2Rsb sinuous. Hind wing vein 2-1A long, reaching about 0.8 × the distance to wing margin, HWC 1.91.

Metasoma ( Fig. 101). T1 petiole basal half smooth towards base, apical half, postpetiole coriarious-punctulate, except pospetiole apical parts centrally smooth, sparsely punctulate, spiracle at about basal 0.7, inconspicuously prominent, T1LW 2.66, T1WW 3.08, T1GL 0.33; T2 moderately short, apically robust, T2T1L 0.77, thyridium subcircular, T2LW 0.84, T2WW 2.33. Ovipositor approximately straight, OST 0.60, dorsal valve with nodus absent, notch absent; ventral valve tip without distinct serrations ( Fig. 23).

Color. Head black, mesosoma and legs brown (133, 096, 046), metasoma mostly dark brown (073, 054, 042) and dark yellowish (189, 164, 034). Head: Scape ventrally, pedicel dorsally and flagellomeres 5–9 mostly or entirely white; clypeus dark brown ( Fig. 84); mouth parts whitish (218, 216, 195), except mandible base margin and apex blackish. Mesosoma: Ventrally blackish; collar entirely, tegula, subalar ridge, and propodeal apophyses white; propleuron darker than pronotum, except ventro-lateral corner white; mesoscutum lobes centrally slightly and propodeum anterior portion centrally darkest. Legs: Fore and mid coxae and trochanters, hind coxa apical 0.3– 0.5 white, except mid trochanter dorsally brown; trochantellus ventrally and apical parts dorsally, femora basal 0.1, fore and mid femur anteriorly and ventrally, fore and mid tibiae anteriorly and posteriorly, and hind tibia basal 0.2 very faintly lightest. Fore wing with two faint, dark spots, on apical half of cell 3M and 1+2R1, and cell 1Cu apical parts, and respective surrounding areas. Metasoma: T1 and T2 entirely, and T3 basal half dark brown, except T1 ventrally lightest, T1 apical 0.2 and T2 apical 0.3 with white stripe, T2 stripe anteriorly concave, concavity apex reaching apical margin, this area and thyridium dark yellowish; T3 apical half, T4–8 basally brown, dark yellowish toward tergites apex; T7 and T8 dorsally slightly, and sternites medially white; ovipositor sheath dark brown, except basal 0.7 ventrally whitish; ovipositor light brown (187, 144, 084).

Male. Unknown.

Variability. Paratype with anterior transverse carina centrally and pleural carina inconspicuous. Color: Paratype with propodeum anterior portion without darkish mark, uniformly colored with posterior area.

Comments. As mentioned in “Species Delimitation” of the genus, this species cannot be included in any of the proposed species groups because of some unique features. The general body shape and size of D. indistinctum may resemble that of specimens of the D. typurum species group, but differ from those by having the propodeum posterior area uniformly colliculate with anterior area, without distinct ridges or rugae (vs. faintly to moderately strigulate-rugulose, with ridges medially slightly to markedly backward oriented), and propodeal spiracle subrounded (vs. distinctly elliptic).

The morphological combination cited under the description of D. trochanteratum species group in “Species Delimitation” of the genus may resemble in part D. indistinctum , mostly because of the propodeum posterior area uniformly colliculate with anterior area and propodeal spiracle subrounded, but they could be readily isolated by having the fore wing with areolet small, with both veins 2Ma and 2Mb tubular (vs. areolet moderately large, with vein 2Mb distinctly nebulous, or absent).

It seems somewhat peculiar that the examined specimens has the anterior transverse carina of propodeum delicate, sometimes inconspicuous, while this same carina is complete and relatively stout in all other Debilos species.

Etymology. From the Latin word indistinctum , meaning “indistinct,” in reference to the anterior transverse carina of propodeum faint, sometimes inconspicuous in this species.
