Basionym: Eugenia pseudomato D.Legrand View in CoL , Lilloa 10: 477. 1944 (type: Argentina, Tucumán, Schreiter 919, holotype MVM, not seen; isotype NY).

The occurrence of this species in Brazil was cited by Grifo (1992), based on a MICH collection (Hatschbach 22932). We had the opportunity to examine Hatschbach 22932 at MBM and, although it presents dichasial inflorescences reminding those of several species of Myrcianthes , the MBM sheet is in fact a collection of Blepharocalyx salicifolius (Kunth) O.Berg . No additional Brazilian collection of Myrcianthes pseudomato was examined since this citation; so, we have not included this species in the final list of Brazilian Myrtaceae .
