European distribution: Austria, Belarus, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland ( Wegner 1966; Beaucournu & Arzamasov 1967; Beaucournu 1968; Mahnert 1971b; Cais 1977; Büttiker & Mahnert 1978; Krištofik & Dudich 2000a; Vas et al. 2012).
Notes: This is the first record of P. hannswrangeli on small mammals in Baltic States ( Lithuania). Specimens were collected in Aukštaitija highland (arable land, mature deciduous and mixed forests, natural meadows) and South-Eastern Lithuanian lowland (mature deciduous forests).
