Ampullaria obvia Mabille, 1884: 40 . Type material —location unknown [not found in MNHN (cf. Dance 1986: 217)]. Type locality —“In insula Madagascar ”. Distribution —no additional information.

Remarks. Noted as from Madagascar by Paetel (1887: 480), referencing the listing of the species by Mayer (1885 [as “1884”]: 33). Not mentioned by Starmühlner (1969) nor by Fischer-Piette & Vukadinovic (1973). Appears to be a N. comb. with Pila .
