Paludina olivacea G.B. Sowerby I, 1825 : appendix ix [1834: pl. 183]. Type material — holotype [by monotypy: “the only specimen”]—location unknown ( Connolly 1939: 557). Type locality —“Locality unknown”. Distribution — Zanzibar, Mozambique ( Paetel 1887: 480; Connolly 1939: 557).
Remarks. Valid species, teste G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 68). Undeterminable, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 195) and Haas (1936: 34). May be either ovum Troschel or purpureus Jonas but not olivacea Lamarck , teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 195).
Lanistes Oliverii View in CoL [lapsus calami pro Olivierii ] Montfort, 1810: 123 [un-numbered figure, p. 122]. Type material —as for carinata Olivier. Type locality —as for carinata Olivier.
Remarks. The name olivierii was introduced to replace carinata Olivier [as “ carinatans ”] in homage to Olivier. As it was intended as the valid name of the taxon it is available (Code, Art. 11.5), but nonetheless a junior synonym of carinata Olivier, 1804 .
