Differs from Nectria argentinensis in its unbranched or bifurcate conidiophores and larger conidia 6.0–8.0 × 2.0–3.0 μm.
Holotype:— BJFC-S1372 .
Etymology:— ulmicola refers to the host genus Ulmus .
Host/distribution:—Twigs and branches of Ulmus davidiana var. japonica from China.
Asexual morph on natural substrata:— Stromata erumpent through epidermis, orange to yellow brown. Sporodochial conidiomata sessile, superficial on well-developed stromata, smooth, scattered, solitary, sessile, cerebriform, up to 200–420 μm in height, 335–750 μm in width, yellow to orange, sometimes dark brown at maturity. Hymenium arising directly from textura prismatica, elongating from textura angularis, up to 75 μm in length, cells 2.0–6.5 μm in width, not curved at margin. Conidiophores with phialides, unbranched or bifurcate. Conidiogenous cells enteroblastic, monophialidic, cylindrical, straight or curved, without collarettes, 10.5–25.0 μm long, 1.5–3.0 μm wide. Conidia hyaline, ellipsoidal, straight or slightly curved, non-septate, (5.0–)6.0–8.0(–8.5) × (1.5–)2.0–3.0(–3.5) μm (n = 50). Sexual morph: Unknown.
Cultures:—Culture is initially white, becoming whitish yellow after 7–10 days; aerial mycelium is white, sometimes whitish yellow, with a uniform texture; reverse white in center and whitish yellow to yellow at the margin.
