16. Coleophora hoeneella Baldizzone, 1989 View in CoL

(Korean name: ti-bes-tong-na-bang)

Coleophora hoeneella Baldizzone, 1989b: 203 View in CoL . Type locality: China, Tibet, Batang // [holotype (female) deposited in MGAB]. Multicoloria hoeneella ; Lelej 2016: 101; Anikin 2019: 76.

Coleophora hoeneella View in CoL ; Hua 2005: 12; Baldizzone et al. 2006: 64; Li 2012: 156; Kim et al. 2014: 260; Park 2014: 37.

Diagnosis. The species is externally similar to C. chretieni Baldizzone, 1979 , C. ditella Zeller, 1849 , and C. pseudoditella Baldizzone & Patzak, 1983 , in addition to sharing genital characteristics, particularly those of C. chretieni . However, it can be distinguished from the latter by the following genital characteristics: 1) in the male genitalia of C. hoeneella (see Li 2012: Fig. 91A), an indistinct concavity at the ventro-subbasal inner edge of the sacculus is present, while in C. chretieni (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GM XXXVI, Fig. 117), a more distinct concavity at the ventro-subbasal inner edge of the sacculus is present, and in C. ditella (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GM XXXVI, Fig. 116) and C. pseudoditella (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GM XXXVII, Fig. 119), a deep and narrow triangular concavity at the ventro-subbasal inner edge of the sacculus is present; 2) in the female genitalia of C. hoeneella (see Baldizzone 1989b: Figs 59, 60), a relatively stout spinulate section in the posterior 3/10 of the ductus bursae, and the corpus bursae with a leaf-like signum are present, while in C. chretieni (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GF XL, Fig. 118), female genitalia possess a similar thickness but distinctly longer spinulate section in the posterior 2/5 of the ductus bursae, and a leaf-like signum with a much larger basal plate, in C. ditella (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GF XXXIX, Fig. 117), female genitalia possess a slightly slenderer and much longer spinulate section in the posterior 2/5 of the ductus bursae, and a leaf-like signum featuring a much larger basal plate, and in C. pseudoditella (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GF XL, Fig. 120), female genitalia possess much shorter and slenderer spinulate section in the posterior 1/10 of the ductus bursae, and a much smaller signum.

Adult: ( Baldizzone 1989b: wingspan 15.0 mm; Li 2012: wingspan 15.0–16.0 mm). See Baldizzone (1989b: Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 : holotype / female); Li (2012: Pl. IV, Fig. 91).

Male genitalia: See Li (2012: Fig. 91A).

Female genitalia: See Baldizzone (1989b: Figs 59, 60: holotype / gen. slide no. Bldz-8895); Li (2012: Fig. 91B); Kim et al. (2014: Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ); Park (2014: Fig. 12 View FIGURE12 ).

Larval case: Unknown.

Host plants. Unknown.

Distribution. Russia (Far East) ( Anikin 2019); China ( Baldizzone et al. 2006), Korea ( Kim et al. 2014; Park 2014).

Remarks. The Chinese population of the species and its allied species exhibit a distinctive pattern on the forewings, characterized by a whitish costal streak followed by a longitudinal broad brownish streak extending from the base or near the base to the apex, with variable patterns in the rest of the area depending on the species. However, the adult illustrations, photographed from the same Korean specimen by Kim et al. (2014: Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ) and Park (2014: Pl. for adults, Fig. 12 View FIGURE12 ), exhibit the forewings with a whitish background featuring olive brown venous lines, lacking the longitudinal broad brownish streak. Considering this discrepancy, the illustrations by Kim et al. (2014) and Park (2014) appear to be questionable and potentially lack accuracy, although the description of the forewings and the female genitalia correspond well with those of the species. Further investigation and discussion will be necessary in future studies when new specimens become available.
