Diagnosis. The species is externally similar to C. solenella Staudinger, 1859 , and C. solenella tariata Reznik, 1975 , as well as genital characteristics, such as a subtriangular sacculus featuring a deep and triangular concavity at the ventro-subbasal inner edge, a conical phallotheca, and cornuti arranging irregularly in the male genitalia, and a chalice-shaped colliculum, a well-coiled ductus bursae, and the spinulate section in the posterior 2/5 of the ductus bursae in the female genitalia. However, it can be distinguished from the latter by the female genitalia: 1) in the female genitalia of C. honshuella , the ductus bursae, about 11.0–12.0× longer than its sterigma, is present, while in C. solenella (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GF XLII, Fig. 126), a much longer ductus bursae, about 20.0–21.0× longer than its sterigma, is present, and in C. solenella tariata (see Richter 2022), a longer ductus bursae, about 14.0× longer than its sterigma, is present.

Adult ( Figs 9A View FIGURE 9 ; 11I View FIGURE 11 ): Forewing length 7.0– 7.5 mm (wingspan 15.0– 16.5 mm) (n=8) ( Baldizzone & Oku 1988a: wingspan 15.0–19.0 mm; Oku 2013: wingspan 15.0–19.0 mm). See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ); Oku (2013: Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 -30-41, 42); Park (2014: Pl. for adults, Fig. 13 View FIGURE13 ).

Male genitalia ( Figs 14E, F View FIGURE 14 ; 22F View FIGURE 22 ): See also Baldizzone & Oku (1988a: Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 , 2 View FIGURE 2 , 6 View FIGURE 6 ).

Female genitalia ( Figs 18A View FIGURE 18 ; 22G View FIGURE 22 ): See also Baldizzone & Oku (1988a: Figs 4 View FIGURE 4 , 5 View FIGURE 5 : paratype / gen. slide no. Bldz- 6925); Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 55); Park (2014: Fig. 13 View FIGURE13 ).

Larval case (leaf miner): Sheath case (bivalved). See Baldizzone & Oku (1988a: Fig. 27 View FIGURE 27 ); Jinbo & Suzuki (2023).

Host plants. [ Asteraceae ] Artemisia princeps Pamp. (some recorded as A. indica var. maximowiczii (Nakai) H. Hara ) ( Baldizzone & Oku 1988a; Falkovitsh 2006) and A. montana (Nakai) Pamp. ( Oku 2013) .

Distribution. Japan, Russia (Far East) ( Baldizzone & Savenkov 2002; Anikin 2019), China ( Hua 2005), Korea ( Kim & Park 2009; Park 2014).

Remarks. The species was first reported from Korea by Kim & Park (2009).
