Diagnosis. The species shares external similarities with C. zelleriella Heinemann, 1854 , C. betulella Heinemann, 1876 , C. melanograpta Meyrick, 1935 , and C. curictae Baldizzone, 2016 , characterized by the scape with a long ventral scale tuft, and the forewings featuring a dark brown costal streak in the apical portion in the adult, as well as genital characteristics, such as a sub-oblong stem of the tegumen, the sacculus with a thickened distal margin, a dorsally sclerotized phallotheca, and numerous slender cornuti forming a linear bundle in the male genitalia. However, the species can be distinguished by the following male genital characteristics: in those of C. kononenkoi ( Figs 14G, H View FIGURE 14 ), the sacculus with a strongly curved inward and rounded distal margin, along with an indistinct wide expansion at the distal margin, is present, while in C. zelleriella (see Baldizzone 2016: Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ), male genitalia possess a weakly curved sacculus with a much angled, yet rounded, dorsal corner, and a distinct small triangular tooth at the ventral corner, in C. betulella (see Richter 2022), male genitalia possess a broad quadrate sacculus with a large triangular tooth at the ventral corner, in C. melanograpta ( Figs 15A, B View FIGURE 15 ), male genitalia possess a much narrower elongated sacculus without a triangular tooth, and in C. curictae (see Baldizzone 2016: Figs 3–5 View FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 , 7 View FIGURE 7 ), male genitalia possess a much narrower oblong sacculus featuring a wide triangular tooth at the ventral corner.
Adult ( Figs 9B View FIGURE 9 ; 11J View FIGURE 11 ): Forewing length 6.0– 6.5 mm (wingspan 11.0– 13.5 mm) (n=6) ( Baldizzone & Savenkov 2002: wingspan 12.0 mm). See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 19 View FIGURE 19 ); Park (2014: Pl. for adults, Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 ).
Male genitalia ( Figs 14G, H View FIGURE 14 ; 22H View FIGURE 22 ): See also Park & Baldizzone (1992: Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 : misidentified as C. flavovena ); Baldizzone & Savenkov (2002: Figs 12 View FIGURE12 , 13 View FIGURE13 : holotype / gen. slide no. Bldz-11692; Fig. 14 View FIGURE 14 : paratype / gen. slide no. Bldz-11570); Kim & Park (2009: Figs 35, 35ab); Park (2014: Fig. 16 View FIGURE 16 ).
Female genitalia: Unknown.
Larval case: Unknown.
Host plants. Uknown.
Distribution. Russia (Far East) ( Baldizzone et al. 2006; Anikin 2019), Korea ( Kim & Park 2009; Park 2014).
Remarks. The species was first reported from Korea by Kim & Park (2009). Additionally, Park & Baldizzone (1992) presented inaccurately the male genitalia as those of C. flavovena (see also the remarks on C. flavovena above).
