( Figs 8E View FIGURE 8 ; 11E View FIGURE 11 ; 17C View FIGURE 17 ; 21G View FIGURE 21 )

Coleophora cornutella Falkovitsh, 1975: 368 View in CoL [a junior primary homonym of C. cornutella Herrich-Schäffer, 1861 View in CoL ]. Type locality: Mongolia, Bulgan // [holotype (male) deposited in HNHM]. Coleophora falkovitshella Vives, 1984: 253 [a replacement name for C. cornutella Falkovitsh, 1975 View in CoL ]. Casignetella falkovitshella ; Budashkin et al. 2015: 19; Lelej 2016: 104; Anikin 2019: 82; Anikin 2021: 325. Coleophora falkovitshella ; Vives 1988: 75; Baldizzone & Savenkov 2002: 377; Baldizzone et al. 2006: 55; Kim & Park 2009:

188; Kim et al. 2013b: 324; Park 2014: 34.

Material examined. 1♀, “ Eo-ri , Hajang-myeon , Samcheok-si, / GW [[ Gangwon-do ]], KOREA / N37°17′12.0″ E128°56′10.6″ / Aug 12, 2018 Alt. 940m / Coll. E. J. Lim ” // wings slide no. KJM0508 // gen. slide no. KJM0342 // COI barcode no. CBNU405 GoogleMaps // specimen accession no. CBNUPM000229, in CBNU.

Diagnosis. See the morphological diagnosis of C. artemisicolella Bruand, 1855 above.

The comparison of barcode sequences with C. artemisicolella (GenBank accession nos. HM871573.1, HM876377.1, HM875737.1, KF523760.1, JN248884.1) and C. fasciella (GenBank accession nos. MT394458– MT394461, PP907819–PP907824) indicates a p-distance ranges of 1.5–1.7% and 1.7–2.0%, respectively.

Adult ( Figs 8E View FIGURE 8 ; 11E View FIGURE 11 ): Forewing length 5.0 mm (wingspan 10.0 mm) (n=1) ( Kim & Park 2009: wingspan 7.0– 8.0 mm). See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 ); Park (2014: Pl. for adults, Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ); Richter (2022).

Male genitalia: See Richter (2022).

Female genitalia ( Figs 17C View FIGURE 17 ; 21G View FIGURE 21 ): See also Baldizzone & Savenkov (2002: Figs 32, 33); Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 53); Park (2014: Fig. 10 View FIGURE 10 ).

Larval case: Unknown.

Host plants. Unknown.

Distribution. Mongolia, Russia (Southern European part, Southern Siberia, Far East) ( Anikin 2019), Japan ( Baldizzone et al. 2006), Korea ( Kim & Park 2009; Park 2014).

Remarks. The species was first reported from Korea by Kim & Park (2009).

The biology of the species is unknown. However, considering the similarity of morphological features and barcode sequences, the larvae of the species may exhibit biology similar to that of C. artemisicolella , functioning as seed miners (sometimes feeding on leaves) of Artemisia plants belonging to the family Asteraceae , and beginning with a seed case before transitioning to a trivalved larval case made of silk mixed with material from host plants as they grow.
