Diagnosis. The species shares external and genital characteristics with C. nyingchiensis Li & Zheng, 1999 , which is most similar with the species among allies belonging to the C. vestianella group. However, it can be distinguished from the latter by the following genital characteristics: 1) in the male genitalia of C. vestianella ( Figs 16I, J View FIGURE 16 ), medially curved and slender two juxtal rods, one of them slightly shorter than the other and with a triangular dorsal tooth at the distal 2/5, and cornuti forming a curved linear formation are present, while in C. nyingchiensis (see Li & Zheng 1999a: Figs 12 View FIGURE12 , 13 View FIGURE13 ), male genitalia possess relatively slightly curved and broader two juxtal rods, one of them slightly shorter than the other and with a triangular dorsal tooth right before the apex, and the other gradually widened and with a longus projection at the lateral apex, and cornuti forming a shorter and wider formation; 2) in the female genitalia of C. vestianella ( Fig. 20C View FIGURE 20 ), the anterior portion of the colliculum distinctly exceeding the apex of the apophyses anteriores is present, while in C. nyingchiensis (see Li & Zheng 1999a: Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 ), female genitalia possess the anterior end reaching the apex of the apophyses anteriores.

Adult ( Figs 10F View FIGURE 10 ; 12J View FIGURE12 ): Forewing length 6.0– 7.5 mm (wingspan 12.5–14.5 mm) (n=5) ( Oku 2013: wingspan 13.5–15.5 mm; Baldizzone 2019: wingspan 14.0–18.0 mm). See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 25 View FIGURE 25 ); Oku (2013: Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 -31-22); Park (2014: Pl. for adults, Fig. 29 View FIGURE 29 ); Baldizzone (2019: Pl. AD XXXVI, Fig. 204).

Male genitalia ( Figs 16I, J View FIGURE 16 ; 25F View FIGURE 25 ): See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 47); Park (2014: Fig. 29A View FIGURE 29 ); Baldizzone (2019: Pl. GM LXII, Fig. 197).

Female genitalia ( Figs 20C View FIGURE 20 ; 25G View FIGURE 25 ): See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 65); Park (2014: Fig. 29C View FIGURE 29 ); Baldizzone (2019: Pl. GF LXVI, Fig. 198).

Larval case (seed miner): Tubular silken case (trivalved). See Kusunoki & Oku (2012: Figs 22–25 View FIGURE 22 View FIGURE 23 View FIGURE 24 View FIGURE 25 ); Baldizzone (2019: Pl. AST XXV, Fig. 180).

Host plants. [ Amaranthaceae ] Chenopodium album L., Ch. giganteum D.Don (some recorded as Ch. album var. centrorubrum Makino ), Ch. opulifolium Schrad. ex W.D.J.Koch & Ziz , Atriplex patula L., A. laciniata L., and A. tornanei Tineo ( Falkovitsh 2006; Oku 2013; Baldizzone 2019).

Distribution. Almost all of Europe, Ukraine, Russia (European part, Southern Siberia, Far East), Kazakhstan, Caucasus, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, China, Japan ( Baldizzone et al. 2006; Anikin 2019; Baldizzone 2019; Anikin & Knyazev 2024), Korea ( Kim & Park 2009; Park 2014).

Remarks. The species was first reported from Korea by Kim & Park (2009).
