Diagnosis. The species shares external and genital characteristics with C. laricella (Hübner, [1817]) , but it can be distinguished from the latter by the following male genital characteristics: in those of C. obducta ( Figs 15E, F View FIGURE 15 ), the cucullus much free from the valvula, the valvula expanded ventrally with an indistinct triangular tooth (sometimes absent) at the ventro-basal part, and the sacculus mostly covered by the valvula are present, while in C. laricella (see Baldizzone 2019: Pl. GM XLIX, Fig. 155), male genitalia possess the cucullus slightly free from the valvula, and the valvula featuring a distinct triangular tooth near the ventro-basal part, and a relatively free sacculus from the valvula.

Adult ( Figs 9F View FIGURE 9 ; 12B View FIGURE12 ): Forewing length 3.5–4.5 mm (wingspan 8.0–9.0 mm) (n=48) ( Moriuti 1982a: wingspan 10.0 mm; Oku 2013: wingspan 8.0–10.0 mm). See also Moriuti (1982b: Pl. 12, Fig. 39: C. longisignella / paratype; Pl. 227, Fig. 36: holotype; Pl. 241, Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 : C. longisignella / venation); Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 ); Oku (2013: Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 -30-44); Park (2014: Pl. for adults, Fig. 20 View FIGURE 20 ).

Male genitalia ( Figs 15E, F View FIGURE 15 ; 23G View FIGURE 23 ): See also Kim & Park (2009: Figs 38, 38a); Park (2014: Figs 20A, B View FIGURE 20 ).

Female genitalia ( Figs 18E View FIGURE 18 ; 23H View FIGURE 23 ): See also Kim & Park (2009: Fig. 59); Park (2014: Fig. 20D View FIGURE 20 ).

Larval case (leaf miner): Composite leaf case. See Jinbo & Suzuki (2023).

Host plants. [ Pinaceae ] Larix gmelinii (Rupr.) Kuzen. and L. kaempferi (Lamb.) Carrière (recorded as L. leptolepis (Siebold & Zucc.) Gordon ) ( Falkovitsh 2006; Oku 2013).

Parasitoid. [ Braconidae ] Dolichogenidea coleophorae (Wilkinson, 1938) ( Höcherl et al. 2024) .

Distribution. China, Japan, Korea, Russia (Eastern and Southern Siberia, Far East) ( Byun et al. 1999; Baldizzone et al. 2006; Kim & Park 2009; Park 2014; Anikin 2019).

Remarks. This species has often been erroneously identified as C. laricella (Hübner, [1817]) . Consequently, it was listed as C. laricella by Ko (1969). However, Park (1983) cited this record and noted that the identification of C. laricella in Korea was a misidentification of C. longisignella Moriuti, 1972 , which is a junior synonym of C. obducta . Nevertheless, Park & Baldizzone (1992) excluded the species from the Korean list of the family due to the absence of voucher specimens. However, Byun et al. (1999) subsequently discovered numerous specimens for the first time.
