Subgenus Martiodrilus (Martiodrilus) Righi, 1995 , sensu Zicsi, 2000
Diagnosis. Different sizes, without pigments, dark blue, green or with stripes that vary between black and yellow. Setae in 8 longitudinal rows all over the body, rarely in an irregular arrangement at the end of the body. Intraclitellar male pores. Calciferous glands 8 pairs in segment 7-14, with composite tubular structure. Holandric and metagynous genitalia. 1, 2, or 3 pairs of spermathecae. Dissepiments thickened behind oesophagus. Holonephridia without rosette shaped nephrostoma (modified Zicsi, 2000).
Type species. Martiodrilus (Martiodrilus) heterostichon heterostichon ( Schmarda, 1861)
Distribution. Number of species: 27, 3 subspecies. Ecuador (23), Colombia (4), Peru (1). In some cases, the species are distributed in several countries, for example Martiodrilus (Martiodrilus) heterostichon colpochaeta ( Cognetti, 1906) ( Ecuador, Colombia).
