Diagnosis. The combination of malar area as long as basal width of mandible, hind basitarsus with pale setae and T1 with subappressed hairs basolaterally is sufficient to distinguish females of C. hedini from those of the other Colletes species found in Xizang. Males of C. hedini can be readily diagnosed through mesoscutum covered with off-white pubescence and metasomal terga without well-defined apical bands. Nonetheless, C. hedini may be relatively easily confused with C. haubrugei , from which it is distinct in having the hind basitarsus 4.25× as long as broad in females (hind basitarsus 3.75× as long as broad in females of C. haubrugei ) and the malar area 1.75× as long as basal width of mandible in males (malar area 1.25× as long as basal width of mandible in males of C. haubrugei ).

Distribution. Western China (Xizang).
DNA barcode. Available (11 ♀ and 4 ♂). See also Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 and Table 1.
Floral hosts. Unknown.
Remarks. We identified 479 individuals (~23% of the total) of C. hedini collected in Xizang from 2014 to 2020, which makes it the second most abundant species of the genus (trailing after C. sanctus ) among the new material examined by us for the purpose of this paper.
