2.3. Circaea erubescens Franchet & Savatier (1878: 370) View in CoL View at ENA .
Lectotype (designated by Boufford 1982):— JAPAN. Kanagawa Prefecture: Mt. Hakone, 1866–1874, P. Savatier 413 ( P05182891 digital image; isolectotype P05182894 digital image).
= Circaea delavayi Léveillé (1910a: 138) View in CoL .
Lectotype (designated by Boufford 1982):— CHINA. Yunnan: Zhaotong, Tchen-Fong-Chan (Chenfeng Shan), forests of high mountains, 1894, J. M. Delavay 5021 (G00383544 digital image, isolectotypes DS, G, P).
Distribution: —S Hengduan, N Hengduan.
Note: — Circaea erubescen s has a greater ecological tolerance than other species of Circaea ( Boufford 1982) . It can be found in rocky or stony soils, even in the drained slopes. This attribution allows C. erubescens to directly contact with large number of other Circaea species and produce hybrids ( Boufford 1982).
In the protologue of Circaea erubescens, Franchet & Savatier (1878) cited a gathering “ Savatier, n.413 ” and an illustration. Boufford checked specimens in P and labeled P 05182891 (a sheet of P. Savatier 413) with “ lectotype ” for C. erubescens . However, he recorded this specimen as the “ holotype ” ( Boufford1982). In a recent study, Tanaka et al. (2016) recognized P 05182891 should be the lectotype, but they did not use the phrase “designated here” or a linguistic equivalent. According to Art. 7.10, 7.11, and 9.1 of the ICN ( Turland et al. 2018), the lectotype of C. erubescens should have been designated by Boufford (1982). We hereby make a correction to clarify the type status of C. erubescens .
