Type:— CHINA. Gansu: at the temple of Tcheibsen-hit, 2743 m, 1901, V. Ladygin 514 ( LE) .
Distribution: —U Yarlung Zangbo, M Yarlung Zangbo, L Yarlung Zangbo, C Nepal, E Nepal, W Nepal, Tangut, S Hengduan, N Hengduan.
Note: —This subspecies can be recognized by its translucent leaves with cordate leaf bases. Individuals of this subspecies sometimes also have purple pigment on their fruit hairs ( Boufford 1982). Although Skvortsov (1977) stated in the protologue that the type is stored in LE, the type status is still dubious because we cannot guarantee the existence of duplicates. So, we leave this issue open for further studies.
