World distribution. Argentina and Chile.
Chilean distribution. From Coquimbo to Los Lagos region ( Fig. 28 View FIGURE 28 ).
Altitudinal range. From coastal to precordillera ecosystems (5– 1,150 m.a.s.l.).
Biology and notes. Thompson (1972b) comments that Notiocheilosia has a problematic systematic position because it has a morphological combination of characters that can be attributed to different tribes. Notiocheilosia nitescens is a native species, recorded visiting flowers of Amomyrtus meli (Phil.) D. Legrand & Kausel , and Myrceugenia ovata var. ovata (Hook. & Arn.) O. Berg ( Smith-Ramírez et al., 2005) as well as E. cordifolia in Chiloé.
Conservation status. LC; EOO = 99,081 km 2; AOO = 44 km 2 and 11 localities (or subpopulations).
