Type locality and data. Brazil (T, ♀, NMW) .

Material examined. Arica y Parinacota: 1♀, Azapa Lab, 3.II.1964, Leg. R . Cortés (UTA).

World distribution. Colombia, Suriname, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.

Chilean distribution. Only recorded fom Arica y Parinacota region ( Fig. 65 ).

Altitudinal range. This species inhabits transverse valleys between 100 and 500 m. a.s.l.

Biology and notes. Palpada rufiventris is here reported from Chile for the first time. The species inhabits the Azapa valley and it is probably associated with crops from this area. Other aspects of its biology and ecology remain unknown in Chile.

Conservation status. LC; AOO = 2 km 2 and one locality (or subpopulation). The species is widely distributed in all South America.
