Remarks. The coloration is characteristic in the males, having a dark thorax, greenish yellow abdomen, black front tibia, and remaining leg segments yellow. The subtriangular anal point is uncommon. According to Sasa (1980) and Pinder (1978), specimens from Europe and Japan have 3 or 4 lateral setae medially on the superior volsella, whereas the Chinese specimens have 3–7 setae. Some Chinese specimens of this species were misidentified and listed as M. chloris (Meigen) and M. diffinis (Edwards) by Wang (2000).
