Mericarps were 1.4–3 × 0.9–1.3 mm and brown. The mericarp surface was smooth with reticulate ornamentations and a longitudinal rib in all taxa of this section, except G. molle . In the latter species mericarp surface is rugose and glabrous with some cilia at the base and obviously transversely wrinkled and without longitudinal rib. The mericarp ornamentation is gemmate-microechinate. In G. pusillum there are no ciliate hairs at the base of mericarp instead of there are non-glandular and glandular hairs but in other species there are sparsely ciliate hairs of non-glandular type.
