Eugenia casarettoana (as “ casaretteana ”) O. Berg in Mart. et al. (Eds.), Fl. Bras. 14(1): 520. 1858. Type: BRAZIL. [Amazonas, Coari], “Habitat in silvis ad Coari prov. Rio Negro: M. [Martius], Pl. Najas,” s.d., Martius s.n. (holotype M barcode M-137729!).

Accepted name: Eugenia patens Poir.

When Berg (1858: 520) described this species he indicated the collection locality and “M.” which means that the specimen studied is a Martius collection. In addition, at the end of the species description he cited “(v. in hb. Monac.)” meaning that he saw a specimen deposited at M. Therefore, the specimen M-137729 is here recognized as the holotype. According to WCSP (2016) and Sobral et al. (2016) Eugenia casarettoana O. Berg is a synonym of E. patens Poir.

Gomidesia casarettoana (as “ casaretteana ”) O. Berg in Mart. et al. (Eds.), Fl. Bras. 14(1): 20–21. 1857. Type: BRAZIL. Minas Gerais: Without locality, s.d., Martius s.n. (lectotype M barcode M-0137574!, here designated).

Accepted name: Myrcia pubescens DC.

When Berg (1857: 20–21) described this taxon he cited several syntypes, and sheet M-0137574 is here selected as the lectotype. On this specimen are affixed two labels by O. Berg and L. Jennings stating that this name is a synonym of Myrcia pubescens DC.
