Rudgea casarettoana Müll. Arg. , Flora 59: 452, 461. 1876.— Uragoga casarettoana (Müll. Arg.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen. Pl. 2: 959. 1891. Type: BRAZIL. Bahia: Santo Amaro , “In prov. Bahia prope [Santo] Amaro,” s.d. [January 1840], Casaretto Herb. No. 2171 (lectotype G barcode G00436637 !, here designated; isolectotypes TO! [2 sheets, without barcode], fragment and photo of G at F No. 766950).

Accepted name: Rudgea casarettoana Müll. Arg.

When Müller Argoviensis (1876: 452, 461) described this species, he cited “In prov. Bahia prope [Santo] Amaro: Casaretto n. 2171”. However, because he did not indicate in which herbarium the specimen is deposited, the specimen with barcode G00436637is here designated as the lectotype. Two specimens of Casaretto Herb. No. 2171 were found at TO, one with a label in Casaretto’s handwriting “n. 2171 […] arbor […] legi in sylvis cima oppidum S. Amaro (in Brasilia provincia Bahiensis), mense Januario 1840. Casaretto” and the other with the same herbarium number but without any locality, which are isolectotypes.
