Previously known from Brazil and Paraguay (Govaerts et al. 2008). It was collected in the Serranía de Chiquitana, in the zone of Santiago de Chiquitos, growing in campo cerrado rupestre between 600–900 m alt. The nearest record of this species from outside Bolivia is H.C. Lima 146 (RB), from the Morro do Urucúm, Mato Grosso do Sul ( Brazil).
