Description of Nocardia niigatensis NU View in CoL View at ENA 4Y-9-1
Cells are Gramstainingpositive, nonflagellated and rod-shaped. Colonies are punctiform dry, flat and orange-colored after 3 days on TSA at 30°C. Positive for esculin hydrolysis and βgalactosidase in API 20NE but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease and gelatinase. L-Arabinose, N-acetyl-glucosamine, gluconate and malate are utilized. Does not utilize D-glucose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, D-maltose, caprate, adipate, citrate and phenylacetate. Strain NU 4Y-9-1 (= NIBRBA 0000114874) has been isolated from ginseng soil, Anseong, Korea.
