Description of Streptomyces olivochromogenes View in CoL View at ENA I1-6

Cells are Gram­staining­positive, non­flagellated, nonpigmented and branched mycelium-forming. Colonies are rhizoid, penetrate and light brownish-colored on ISP2 View Materials at 30° C. Positive for esculin hydrolysis in API 20NE but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, urease, gelatinase and β­galactosidase. L­Arabinose, D­mannitol, D­mannose, N-acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, gluconate, adipate, malate, citrate and phenylacetate are utilized. Does not utilize D-glucose and caprate. Strain I 1-6 (= NIBRBA 0000114809) has been isolated from soil, Daejeon, Korea.
