Lecithocera View in CoL is the most diverse genus in the family, with about 340 described species worldwide. In Africa, more than 50 species are known ( De Prins & De Prins 2017): 22 species from Madagascar and Comoro Islands; 13 from South Africa; 17 from Central and East Africa, including the Congo, Uganda, Sudan, Kenya, and Malawi; and two from West Africa ( L. eucharis Meyrick View in CoL from Sierra Leone and L. marginata Walsingham View in CoL from Gambia). Some of Lecithocera View in CoL described by Viette (1955, 1986) and Meyrick (1911, 1931), i.e., L. adella View in CoL , L. decavella View in CoL , L. kambanella View in CoL , L. masoalella View in CoL , and L. mocquerysella View in CoL as well as L. iresa Meyrick and L. monobyrsa Meyrick View in CoL , should be considered for transfer to Torodora View in CoL or other related genera on the basis of male genitalia characters.
